Study with child
The Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg pays special attention to the compatibility of family and studies. In addition to the university's own childcare facilities provided by the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart, the following services for students with children have been introduced to make the study situation easier for students.
With the medical determination of a pregnancy, female pupils and students can also invoke special protection options since January 1, 2018.
You can find the text of the law here.
Further information can be found here on the Student Services page.
Since the winter semester 2015/16, the AStA has made part of its lounge available to students with children. The play corner set up for this purpose is intended to make it easier for parents to combine family and studies. Thus, students can work in the AStA room while their children can occupy themselves with the toys and craft materials provided free of charge by many students and lecturers.
Before using the room, you must take note of the terms of use. You can find them here. By entering the room, users agree to the rules of use.
If students are unable to take part in or complete an examination due to the illness of their child requiring care, they can immediately submit a certificate from the pediatrician stating the child's need for care by the mother or father to the examination office in accordance with § 22 Para. 1-3 of the Study and Examination Regulations, thereby obtaining the opportunity for a new examination date.
Toddler group
Since the winter semester 2013/2014, the daycare center Hochschulzwerge at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg has been run by Studierendenwerk Stuttgart. As a university service provider, Studierendenwerk Stuttgart has made it its mission to make life easier for students around their studies and to support and care for them in economic, social and cultural areas. 10 children between the ages of 0.5 and 3 can be cared for in the daycare center. The facility works according to the guidelines of the Orientation Plan. This is an educational plan for the elementary sector. It is the basis for an early, individual and gifted support of the children. The concept of the facility can be viewed on site by prior arrangement.
Admission and registration
The Kita Hochschulzwerge primarily accepts children of students. Children whose siblings already attend one of the daycare centers run by the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart and especially children of single parents have priority.
You can register your child directly at the facility. If there are currently no free places, you will be added to the waiting list. You will receive the final confirmation of admission from the administration of the daycare centers.
If your income is low, you can apply for youth welfare assistance from the responsible youth welfare office.
